HOW WE GO ABOUT IT Members make regular contributions -- typically between £25 and £50 per month -- to the Crosier Investment Club’s investment portfolio in which all members have a share. This enables the Club, collectively, to deal in shares far more frequently than would be practicable for any one individual. Each member additionally makes an annual contribution, currently £24, to cover the Club’s overheads such as room hire. At each monthly meeting there is an review of the current share portfolio and the merits of the shares on that month’s research list. Then following a discussion, in which all members can participate, a vote is taken to decide on what shares should be bought or sold. A further discussion follows as to what shares should be researched ready for the following month’s meeting. As we all know, the value of investments can go down as well as up. Nevertheless, despite the prevailing situation, we have remained “in the black”.
